Case Study: WP Propulsion – Building an Automated B2B Marketing Ecosystem from Scratch

Project Overview

WP Propulsion is a comprehensive B2B marketing and sales platform designed for small businesses. The goal was to build a robust, high-performance website that replaces the need for 27+ different marketing tools. I was responsible for the end-to-end development, translating complex designs into a high-converting digital experience within a tight 2-month sprint.

The Technical Challenge:

The client required a highly customized WordPress environment that didn’t feel like a “template.” Key requirements included:

  • Rapid Delivery: A fully functional, multi-page B2B platform delivered in 8 weeks.
  • Custom Architecture: Avoiding heavy “off-the-shelf” builders to ensure maximum site speed and SEO performance.
  • Scalable Pricing Engine: Moving from a traditional e-commerce setup to a streamlined, direct-to-Stripe subscription model.

The Solution

1. Agile Methodology & Stakeholder Management

To meet the 2-month deadline, I implemented a strict Agile workflow. By breaking the project into 2-week sprints, I provided the client with regular demos, ensuring the final build was a 100% match to the designer’s vision while maintaining high development velocity.

2. Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) & Custom Theming

I moved away from restrictive page builders and instead built a Custom Child Theme from the ground up:

  • Dynamic Data: Leveraged ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) to create a flexible backend, allowing the client to manage complex content without breaking the design.
  • Custom Code: Developed bespoke Single Post and Blog Archive templates using custom PHP, CSS, and Vanilla JS to ensure lightweight performance and unique branding.
3. Strategic Payment Migration (WooCommerce to Stripe)

The most critical pivot was the pricing engine.

  • The Problem: Initial plans were handled via WooCommerce, which added unnecessary bloat for a service-based subscription model.
  • The Fix: I re-engineered the Plans & Pricing section, integrating Stripe Direct for seamless, secure, and lightning-fast checkout experiences. This reduced friction in the B2B sales funnel.
